Our
Staff & Safety
We take our recruitment and safety very seriously at Kids
Klub. In creating an environment where the children can
have fun and exciting time learning new skills and activities
it is imperative to have a safety and welfare infrastructure
in place to minimise risk and maximise the support given
to each child ensuring that they have a safe and enjoyable
experience.
Kids Klub exists to assist teachers, group leaders, youth
workers, parents and children in the process of building
mature young adults equipped to cope with all that life
throws at them in a confident yet caring fashion.
A couple of days break for a six year old, acting as a
taster, can leave him or her with an eagerness to mix time
spent away from the family with those irreplaceable, and
long remembered, family holidays.
By the teenage years the challenges of the more adventurous
sports are handled under the supervision of our trained
team. They protect and instruct, but never restrict the
natural exuberance of youth for as long as it poses no risk
to the youngsters or their companions.
Our Staff
The key element in ensuring the safety and well being
of our guests is the staff. Kids Klub’s reputation
is such that we are, to a large extent, able to pick
and choose our employees from a large number of applicants.
Our final selection is based on their qualifications,
enthusiasm, experience in the field and personality.
We insist on criminal records bureau (CRB) police
checks for all employees who work with children. Further
safeguards include meticulous following-up of references.

Nobody works for Kids Klub without passing through a stringent
interview and selection process, yet even then they must
complete an induction programme, satisfactory completion
of which is a condition of employment. Even when they have
passed all the employment checks or system of assessments,
appraisals and retraining is designed to keep their standards
continuously high.
Activity instructors have to hold recognised qualifications
from the relevant national governing bodies such as the
British Canoe Union or Mountain Leader Board.

Your Staff
Regardless of how many adults
you bring to accompany your group we will staff for
the group on a ratio of at least 1 Kids Klub staff member
for every 12 children and depending on the groups programme
and age this may even go down to a ratio of 1 to 8.
All of our activity sessions are instructed by our trained
staff and we expect any accompanying adults to support
Kids Klub staff in making sure that the children are
at the right place at the right time. Outside of activity
time we will always have a ‘duty team’ on
site to offer 24 hour support |
and care, not only for the children
but also as point of contact for the groups adults/staff.
Code of Practice & Risk Assessments
To monitor our provision for the safety of children we undergo
regular inspections from organisations
– such as S.A.F.E. (Safer Activities for Everyone)
and The British Activity Holiday Association (BAHA)
– which have strict criteria, all of which we have
consistently passed since our registration. We adhere to
the working practices outlined in the BAHA manual and those
of other national governing bodies.
Furthermore, we have our own code of practice which covers
where and how the activities are run within each centre
and tailor makes the national standards to our own specific
activity centres. Or code of practice also looks at the
ways in which we look after the children outside of activity
time on a pastoral basis ensuring that the children are
well cared for 24 hours a day.
Each of our activity centres has a copy of our code of
practice, a BAHA manual and their own risk assessment file
all of which are available to view by members of the public
upon request.
Activity safety
Each activity begins with the
issue of appropriate safety equipment and the most
serious part of the session – the safety briefing.
Our equipment standards are high
so we discourage our guests of their own other than
racquets or golf kit. A logbook system is in place
to monitor all safety-critical items. For all water-sport
activities the appropriate buoyancy aids are provided
for all participants.

It is a condition of booking that the person responsible
for the group communicates with our sales team any activities
that they wish their children to be excluded from. Otherwise
parental consent is assumed.
Medical care
At each centre we have qualified and experienced first-aiders
available twenty-four hours each day. As back up we have
arrangements with local doctors who can be called in as
required.
Once again it is essential that upon booking the person
responsible for the group tells us about any medical conditions,
special needs or dietary requirements that may apply. Medicines,
other then inhalers, can be lodged with the staff who then
supervise and monitor their use.

above then please do not hesitate in contacting a member

Furthermore, a CD-Rom with all risk assessments
and certification for all Kids Klub centres is also available
